05/12/2012 - Meredith Mx Suzuki Test Day @ Apex

It was a great day at Apex on Wednesday with Suzuki's new range of 2013 RMZ machines for everyone to test out. The track was rough and hard going which made riding the machines even more challenging but was an excellent day for anyone who joined us. The Suzuki machines performed superbly in the super tough conditions and everyone who jumped on one thoroughly enjoyed the machines and commented on their excellent handling capabilities along with the extremely smooth punchy motors that Suzuki have developed for 2013. Thanks to Apex and Suzuki for helping us put on this great event.

06/10/2008 - 2009 San Manuel Band of Mission Indians/L&M Racing Supercross Team

Yamaha Motor Corporation is most pleased and excited to welcome James Stewart and Kyle Chisholm to the Yamaha Championship Family for the 2009 season as part of the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians/L&M Team.

A six time AMA MX/SX Champion James brings a level of excitement to everything he does that is unrivaled in the world of Motocross and Supercross. With tremendous character and charisma on and off the track Stewart could easily be compared to Yamaha’s own 8 time Road Racing World Champion Valentino Rossi. Considered to be one of the best to ever throw a leg over a motorcycle, James comes off a perfect season and has high expectations for his new bike and team for the 2009 season.

“When I decided I was ready for a change I definitely knew I wanted to ride a Yamaha”, said James Stewart. “I called San Manuel Band of Mission Indians/L&M Team Owner Larry Brooks and was really happy he was able to make it all happen”.

Teammate and fellow Florida native, Kyle Chisholm was a top amateur just a few years ago and at 6’ tall is the right size to make his pro debut in the Supercross Class on a YZ450F. “I know I face a tough challenge, but I’m really excited about riding a YZ450F and proving myself in the Supercross class”, said new team member Kyle Chisholm.

“Our relationship with the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians/L&M Team has been great”, said Racing Division manager Keith McCarty. “With a Supercross Championship in 2008 and the addition of James and Kyle for 2009, we’re sure it will be an exciting season”.

Both Stewart and Chisholm will be racing Supercross on the new Yamaha YZ450F

The third race went well too, i didnt have a too good start but it wasnt bad, again i got back up to second and was closing on the leader but i ran out of laps! i finished 2nd overall.

15/04/2008 - Ride MX Sponsor speedway rider Chris Harris

Ride MX have teamed up with Chris Harris for 2008. He rides for Coventry Bees and is racing in the GP's and UK major races.

CHRIS HARRIS - GB Age: 25.

British career history: St Austell (1998), Exeter (1999-2000), Trelawny (2001), Trelawny & Peterborough (2002-03), Coventry (2004-present).

CHRIS has seen his career take huge strides forward in the last three years, culminating in his magnificent victory at the 2007 British Grand Prix.

One of the most exciting riders in the sport, Chris saw his fortunes change in early 2005 when he made several changes to his set-up after initially struggling with the step up to the Elite League.

Finished second to his then team-mate Scott Nicholls in the 2005 British Championship and fourth in 2006 before reacing the top step of the podium in 2007 at Wolverhampton, beating David Howe and Nicholls.

His Elite League form reached consistent heat-leader standard midway through the 2006 season, and he has not looked back since, making significant gains on his average year by year.

2007 was his best yet as he helped Coventry to the Elite League treble, posted an actual average in excess of nine - and his win at Cardiff gave 40,000 fans one of the greatest-ever speedway races as he first overhauled Leigh Adams and Jason Crump before getting the better of Greg Hancock on the very last bend.

Chris was unlucky to finish just outside the top eight in the GP series overall after a controversial run-off in Gelsenkirchen, but he was an automatic choice for a seeded place again in 2008. He will also go into his fifth season with Coventry as the Bees' highest-averaged rider.

19/01/2008 - James Stewart is out injured

 Kawasaki Press Release on Stewart

Anaheim, Calif., (January 19, 2008) – Monster Energy Kawasaki rider James Stewart will miss tonight’s third round of the Monster Energy Supercross, an FIM Championship after suffering an injury to his left knee during preseason training.

“It was a tough decision to make,” said Stewart. “For me it was really difficult because as you could see during the first two races, I wasn’t racing at 100 percent. I’m going to go in for a MRI and then we will make a decision on the future. I’m just sorry for my fans, I know it is disappointing for them.”

A decision on Stewart’s health will be made after he consults with doctors this week.

“James is a tremendous guy and he has always been a great rider for our team,” said Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Manager Mike Fisher. “This was a very difficult decision but we feel it is the correct one. Once we know the full extent of the injury we will plan for the rest of the season.”

Stewart entered the third round of the championship tied for the points lead with one victory and a second-place finish

12/06/2007 - 2008 Yamaha YZ 250F

 New for 2008:
A redesigned piston bumps compression ratio from 12.5:1 to 13.5:1, further exploiting the inherent efficiency of the five-valve combustion chamber. Carburetion and ignition revisions complement the increased compression.
Adjustment of gear backlash between clutch primary gears and balancer gears reduces mechanical noise.
Changes to the clutch boss and primary driven gear improve clutch oiling for excellent durability.
Matte black crankcase covers: light and cool-looking.
Changes to the shape of the outer fork tubes and lower triple clamp, and revised fork internals, result in excellent handling, great damping and a smooth ride.
Optimized linkage ratio provides a smoother ride and enhanced rear wheel traction.
55mm stainless steel footpegs replace 45mm ones for great grip and comfort, and a new brake pedal eases operation.
Grippy new Bridgestone knobbies front and rear.

01/06/2007 - 2008 Yamaha YZ 450F

 MAJOR CHANGES FOR 2008:

Brake calipers: Last year the YZ250F got downsized brake calipers and a smaller fork dropout on the front. This year the YZ450F gets the same diminutive parts.

Tires: Gone is the Dunlop 739 front tire (replaced by the Dunlop 742FA). The YZ450F’s 756/742 combination is the same as what Honda uses.

Muffler: It’s tiny. Just barely visible behind the side number plate, the 2008 YZ450F muffler is a mechanical system. It is several inches shorter and much lighter than the 2007’s long, straight-thru design.

Weight: The smaller muffler and calipers save about two pounds over the 2007 model.

Footpegs: Yamaha has upsized the YZ450F footpegs significantly over the previous year.

Availability: Yamaha hopes to release the YZ250F and YZ450F to the public much earlier this year than in the past.

12/09/2006 - Carmichael on the road to recovery

 Suzuki Press Release

BREA, Calif., (Sept. 12, 2006) – American Suzuki Motor Corp. (ASMC) announced today that Team Makita Suzuki Racing’s Ricky Carmichael is on the road to recovery after crashing in the first moto at the final round of AMA Toyota Motocross at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, Calif., on Sunday, Sept. 10, 2006, and injuring his left shoulder.
“I’d just made the pass for the lead and was going through a bumpy, fast section of the track and just messed up,” said Carmichael. “I jumped up as quickly as possible and when I tried to pick up my bike, I realized that my shoulder was hurt. I could barely pick the bike up and when I finally did, I couldn’t pull in the clutch. My mind was racing because, for the first time in a really long time, I realized that I couldn’t continue the race. Right now, I am doing everything possible to get this shoulder ready to go. If I can’t ride at the Motocross of Nations, I hope everyone will give their full support to the rider that is chosen to replace me. I’m so disappointed that this has happened.”

After the crash, the newly crowned AMA Toyota Motocross Champion was treated by the Asterisk Mobile Medical Unit and then flew home to Tallahassee, Fla., where he got an MRI. Initial results show some damage that doctors say will not require surgery. It is estimated that Carmichael will need at least three weeks of rehab before he can resume riding his Makita Suzuki RM-Z450. Carmichael begins rehab today at a sports clinic in Tallahassee.

“It’s too bad this had to happen right before the Motocross of Nations,” said Makita Suzuki Team Manager Roger DeCoster. “He wants to go, but he’s hurt. Right now, we’re just thankful for another great season with Ricky and for the two championships he’s brought home to Suzuki.”

Since signing with Team Makita Suzuki Racing, Carmichael has also won the 2006 Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Championship, the 2005 AMA Supercross title, the 2005 World Supercross GP title, the 2005 AMA Motocross title, the 2005 U.S. Open of Supercross and he led Team USA to victory in the 2005 Motocross of Nations. Overall, Carmichael has 15 AMA title and 17 career titles. He is also the only rider to celebrate two perfect seasons in AMA 250cc Motocross and a perfect season in AMA 125cc Supercross.

16/08/2006 - Motocross of Nations

Press release for immediate issue 16/08/06

The Greatest Show on Earth is just weeks away

The dream is soon to become reality with ten times World champion Stefan Everts, AMA champion Ricky Carmichael and the highly anticipated James ‘Bubba’ Stewart having all confirmed their participation in what many regard will be the best motocross meeting ever.

With just over five weeks remaining until the greatest off road motorcycle race visits these shores, it is all systems go, go, go – ready for the arrival of the MX of Nations at the Matterley Basin circuit near Winchester on 23rd / 24th September. This is a meeting that has been billed as the USA vs the rest of the World in more recent years and this year promises to be no exception.

The sixtieth edition of the inter countries team race promises to be an absolute epic and one not to be missed as it is simply a once in a lifetime opportunity. Having benefited from hosting the British MXGP at the same venue back in June, Promoters Bike It have learnt much from their earlier experience and have everything in place to serve up something very special this time around.

Often regarded as the Olympics of MX, it is not difficult to understand why, when you consider the potential battles between Everts, Stewart and Carmichael on European soil. Having dominated World MX for the last decade, Everts will be looking to sign off in style in this his last ever fully competitive outing, but Stewart and Carmichael will be showing no respect to the Belgium legend as they look to maintain American pride. From the home point of view, the British team will have their role to play, and could just raise their game with the massive patriotic support they are sure to receive.

A revised track that promises to be more spectacular and technical will wait in store for the World’s best riders, whilst the public will find a new parking, camping and entry system that will improve the overall visitor experience. All in all this is going to be the biggest weekend in the history of British MX, so pack away your excuses and make sure you will be there to be a part of it.

Call 0845 4566536 or visit the official event site www.mxofnations.com to book discounted advance tickets / camping or for further information.

07/08/2006 - Drew Goudy Ride MX Factor update

BYMX National Ballykelly – Drew took pole position by 1.2 seconds, in the first race he was in third position around the first bend and climbed up to second, he was just about to pass the leader when he took a big tumble, after he gathered himself up the front brake lever was hanging down and he couldn’t reach it for the rest of the race, he managed to get back up to eighth. In the second moto he got a decent start and climbed up to fourth place.

On Sat morning Drew was feeling the pressure of his home race and came home tenth after an average start and a fall in which he bent the handlebars, he was looking more like a road racer than a motocrosser!! The final race of the day was to be his best as he took the holeshot and led until the 2 lap board went out, after getting caught out with some back markers, Drew followed Lewis King home for second place and fourth overall on the weekend (Drew had the fastest lap of the race).

BYMX National Desertmartin – Drew missed pole by 0.9 seconds but was happy enough with his third place. Drew took the holeshot but a mistake in the first corner enabled two riders to get by, he fought back and was soon in the lead, King and Remmer were chasing but Drew was able to hold his own and took the chequered flag by 6 seconds. The boys were on the line awaiting the second race when the heavens opened, Drew got away well at the start and held his position in appalling conditions to claim a well earned fourth place.

The weather was relentless on Sat morning and racing was delayed until 11.00 when the organisers decided they would run just one more block of races. Drew once again took the holeshot and led for most of the race, Remmer passed him late on and Drew decided to follow rather than get into a battle to take the overall win. Drew took the overall by three points from Remmer and James Cottrell who finished third.

It was a great weekend and Drew was more relaxed at Desertmartin than he was at Ballykelly, also taking pole position and the fastest lap the previous week gave him the confidence to know he could run at the front.

11/07/2006 - UK Team for MX of Nations

 PRESS RELEASE

Motocross of Nations
23rd – 24th September 2006

Rob Herring, ACU’s Motocross Des Nations Team Manager is pleased to announce details of the riders who may form the ‘Team GB’ line-up for the worlds biggest off-road event of the year, the Motocross of Nations held for the first time since 1998 in Britain at Matterley Basin near Winchester.

With the success of Matterley Basin’s first ever event, the British Motocross Grand Prix, I’m sure the country’s motocross fans will be flocking to this superb venue and supporting the Team in attempting to win this coveted trophy for the first time in 12 years.

Last year saw more than 30,000 spectators descend on Ernee, France another circuit with excellent spectator viewing areas, I’m sure Matterley Basin can recreate a similar spectacle for our Team, which will consist of either;

our only Grand Prix winner this year - Billy Mackenzie

current highest placed British rider in the MX 1 World Championship – James Noble

MX 2 Maxxis British Motocross Championship leader – Carl Nunn

teenage sensation and the youngest ever MXDN Team GB member – Tommy Searle

Rob said “The confirmed 3 rider Team has to be registered with Youthstream, by 30th August 2006, hopefully, these riders will maintain their fitness levels, in the event of any injuries or illnesses this country has a wealth of motocross talent willing to take their place in the definitive Team.”

05/07/2006 - Coppins and De Reuver succeed Everts for 2007

With the announced retirement of nine times motocross world champion Stefan Everts at the end of this season, Yamaha is very pleased to have signed both Joshua Coppins and Marc de Reuver for the 2007 MX1 world championship season. The new signings will have a tremendous challenge in trying to maintain the team’s past and present winning success, but Yamaha believe that the 2005 MX1 vice world champion Joshua Coppins (29 yrs, New Zealand) and this year’s MX2 world championship title challenger Marc de Reuver (23 yrs, The Netherlands) both have the speed and talent to become worthy successors in the Yamaha Motocross Team.

03/07/2006 - Drew Goudy Ride MX Factor winner

Drew Goudy Ride MX Factor winner

Drew Goudy winner of the Ride MX Factor competition has had a great start to the year on his new Ride MX YZ 125. Drew won the competition at the beginning of the season and is racing in the BYMX Nationals in the Intermediate 125cc class.
Having moved up from the big wheel 85 class he has adapted to the 125 really well.

Drew finished 6th overall at the last round of the championship at Oliver's Mount and 6th overall at Culham. Unfortunately Drew missed points from the round at Leuchars but is hoping to pull some points back at the next two rounds in his home country of Northern Ireland.

The next two rounds are at Ballykelly July 21/22 and Desertmartin July 28/29.

Ride MX wish Drew all the best for the rest of the season and thanks to the sponsors of the competition.

Sponsors are Yamaha UK, Shift, Lazer, Berik, Putoline, Michelin, FMF, HCR, ASV, and EVS.

27/06/2006 - Team Stevens / Geraghty Back on the GP Trail

The Ride MX backed sidecar team of Jamie Stevens and Mike Geraghty are competing in the Belgium GP at Neeroeteren this weekend. Jamie has now recovered from the injuries sustained at a major International meeting in France and after a successful run out a Culham last weekend is keen to compete at the highest level once again. This is the start of a month of very intensive competition for the Ride MX team, as over the next 5 weeks they will also compete in three rounds of the British Championship in which they are currently 5th and a round of the UMX series at Matchams.

Ride MX would like to wish them well for the GP and their forthcoming events.
